Kiev Patriarchate: Russia not Rus

“Kiev Patriarchate” to deny Russia the right to be called Rus
Moscow, July 10, Interfax – The self-proclaimed “Kiev Patriarchate” is
to specify the term Rus in frames of celebrating the 900th anniversary
of the St. Michael Zlatoverkhy Monastery and the 1020th anniversary of
Russia’s Baptism.
“To mark the two jubilees we’re conducting a Local Council where we
shall amend the term Rus as today Moscow says that Rus is rather
Russia than Ukraine,” Denisenko said.
According to him, the amendment will be introduced on the basis of old
chronicles, including those of Nestor.
“Old chronicles proves that the 9th -10th centuries Rus included
today’s Ukraine, a part of Byelorussia, Baltic States and a part of
Poland. There was no such locality as Moscow then and today they
(Russians – IF) consider themselves Rus, while it is historically
untrue,” Denisenko stressed.
