Am publicat deja 1000 de articole, imi arata programul de editare a revistei Crucea. Acesta e al 1001-lea: daca eram mai cumpanit, poate era un prilej tocmai bun de a anunta incetarea acestei publicatii. (Dar n-o s-o fac inca, iar daca cineva vrea sa mi se alature ca redactor, e binevenit. In anumite conditii, fireste.)

Asadar, mergem mai departe.

Ce poate spune cineva in 1000 de feluri? Mai mult, ce scop e acela care nu poate fi atins in 1000 de articole? E limpede ca nu am un scop precis, iar aceasta publicatie e doar un prilej de imprastiere. Un obiectiv bun pentru viitoarea perioada mi se pare acela de a micsora acest “efect”. Viata duhovniceasca nu este online. Revista noastra e doar un adapost temporar, al carui folos este mai mult decit indoielnic uneori. Mie, de pilda, mi-a provocat destule razne pina acum. Imi cer iertare daca asta vi s-a intimplat si dumneavoastra.

Cu ajutorul lui Dumnezeu, sper sa putem publica doua carti importante in urmatoarele citeva luni, va voi tine la curent cu evolutia acestor proiecte.

Nevertheless, I would rather die than violate my conscience by betraying the Orthodox faith in any particular.”

“And what will you do when the Romans unite with the Byzantines? Yesterday two papal legates arrived. Tomorrow is the Lord’s day, and they will partake of the immaculate Mysteries with the Patriarch,” they taunted him.

The godly one replied, “The whole world may enter into communion with the Patriarch, but I will not. The Apostle Paul tells us that the Holy Spirit anathematizes even angels who preach a new Gospel, that is, introduce novel teaching.”

O sumedenie de articole sint copiate de colo colo pe internet, alcatuind un fel de continut comun pentru mai multe publicatii electronice sau site-uri personale. Unele contin razne sinistre si diseminarea lor e cu atit mai nefolositoare. Iata un asemenea exemplu, care amesteca un lucru bun, anume sublinierea nevoii zdrobirii autentice a inchinarii cu semnul Sfintei Cruci, un un soi de executie sumara, fara judecata, a scumpatatii cu care trebuie privita si inchinarea in sine, ca act exterior:

Sa adaugam ca diferentele de uz in modul de a se face semnul crucii au constituit, printre altele, un punct de dezacord intre Biserica ortodoxa si cea catolica. N-ar avea nici un rost sa le reproducem si sa prelungim astfel desartele si subiectivele consideratii ale unei gresite apologetici. Problema este nu de a sti daca trebuie sa facem semnul crucii cu palma deschisa, cu doua sau trei degete, de la dreapta la stanga, sau invers, nici sa evaluam a posteriori justificarile teologice ale acestor practici diferite. Mai curand este necesar sa vedem daca cel care se inseamna cu Sfanta Cruce se face, prin aceasta, partas al lui Iisus Cel rastignit si inviat. Daca cu adevarat se impartaseste din darul acestei prezente in chip viu, cu o dragoste si o credinta care sa-l duca la acceptarea slujirii pentru a ajunge apoi la dobandirea, cu El, a slavei. De asemenea, prin studiul nostru dorim sa punem in lumina lauda si cinstirea crucii, ca binefaceri duhovnicesti, iar nu sa dam reguli de inchinare. Si aceasta cu atat mai mult cu cat semnul crucii nu este specific crestin nici ca gest, si nici ca forma; ca simbol al fericirii, crucea se regaseste pe peceti, pandantive si stele cu mult inainte de era crestina.

Tinarul cu palaria la picioare este viitorul ieromonah Xenofon din Capsala, duhovnicul unor parinti cu viata sfinta dintre zelotii athoniti. Din pasaportul acestuia aflam si data exacta a iesirii lor din tara: 12 septembrie 1926.
