Agenția de presă a B.O.R. preia o relatare de pe site-ul Episcopiei Giurgiului, despre o vizita în Muntele Athos a unei delegații locale. Autorii își propun să evoce o slujbă în Sfântul Munte “cu cuvintele lor”. Iată ce-a ieșit:

Sigur că putem înțelege emoția naratorului. Dar, potrivit Dictionarului explicativ al limbii române, incantația este:

INCANTÁȚIE, incantații, s.f. (Livr.) Formulă magică, cântată sau recitată (pentru a obține un efect supranatural). ♦ Fig. (Stare de) încântare; farmec, delectare.

Dacă îmi îngăduiți o părere, cred ca acest pasaj e mai degrabă o expresie a alienării omului contemporan, care încearcă să compenseze prin ditirambi si artificii o carență duhovnicească esențială.

Greece is cracking down on major cash transactions and will impose a high levy on the influential Orthodox church in a scramble to boost tax revenue in the face of a debt crisis.
A new draft bill to be tabled in parliament on Tuesday imposes a 20 per cent tax on the Orthodox church’s real estate income, reportedly worth over  10 million euros ($14.8 million)  a year.
It also outlaws all business transactions of more than 1500 euros ($2220) conducted in cash, prescribing instead the use of credit cards and urging consumers to collect receipts in an effort to stamp out tax evasion that costs the state an estimated  10 billion euros a year.
‘‘The goal of our tax policy is a simple and fair system with uniform rules and without unjustified exceptions,’’ the finance ministry said in its report to parliament on Friday.
‘‘Our immediate priority is to deal with tax evasion, which is possibly the worst form of injustice in our tax system that hampers the operation of the state,’’ the ministry said.
The bill spells an end to special tax regimes enjoyed by several professional classes, including taxi and truck drivers, civil engineers, camping operators, doctors and athletes.
It also introduces income checks for owners of yachts, private planes and jets, swimming pools and other luxury items.
The Socialist government is trying to plug leaks in its budget – which last year ended up short by more than  30 billion euros – and bring an end to decades of fiscal waste that has produced nearly  300 billion euros in state debt.

Following a day of clashes between security forces and Arab rioters in Jerusalem, Damascus-based Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal on Sunday evening stated that the fate of the capital would be determined by force, not negotiations.
“The fate of Jerusalem will be determined only by confrontation and not by the negotiating tables,” Mashaal said in a speech, according to Channel 10.
“The Israelis want to divide al-Aqsa Mosque, and this is not all. They want to hold their religious ceremonies in the mosque … in preparation for demolishing it and building their temple there,” he reportedly said.
Israel is interested in handling the Jerusalem issue unilaterally so that it is not included in negotiations with the Palestinians, Masha’al claimed.
“Jerusalem is all of Jerusalem, not only [the east Jerusalem neighborhood of] Abu-Dis. The Arabs and Muslims are [the city's] residents, and the Zionists have no claim over it,” he said.
“I call for angry protests in Palestine and in the Arab world. Today, protests began in [the] Gaza [Strip], and we hope they will spread to the West Bank. It is important for there to be a united Palestinian position. We must send a message to the world: In light of the settlements and actions in Jerusalem, there are no negotiations and we must rethink our steps,” the Hamas leader concluded.
Also on Sunday evening, Jordan warned Israel against “provocative behavior” in the city, saying continued violence could “derail all opportunities of peace and stability in the region.”
“Any new provocative attempts by Israeli troops and Jewish extremists such as what happened today in the shrine’s compound represents a flagrant violation of international law and conventions and sets the stage for more tension and acts of violence,” Jordanian Minister for Media Affairs and Communication Nabil Sharif was quoted by the UAE-based Khaleej Times as saying in a statement.
“Jordan, out of its historical responsibilities in being the custodian of the holy places in Jerusalem, is extremely worried about what is taking place and warns against going ahead with this provocative behavior on the part of Israeli troops,” he reportedly added.
According to the report, Sharif urged “an immediate end to such dangerous practices which threaten to derail all opportunities of peace and stability in the region”.
Nine police officers were lightly injured and 21 rioters arrested, during clashes that broke out between Arabs and police on the Temple Mount, in the alleyways of the Old City’s Muslim Quarter and east Jerusalem in a fresh round of violence that threatened to keep already-heightened tensions in the capital simmering.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama declared the swine flu outbreak a national emergency, giving his health chief the power to let hospitals move emergency rooms offsite to speed treatment and protect noninfected patients.

The declaration, signed Friday night and announced Saturday, comes with the disease more prevalent than ever in the country and production delays undercutting the government’s initial, optimistic estimates that as many as 120 million doses of the vaccine could be available by mid-October.

Health authorities say more than 1,000 people in the United States, including almost 100 children, have died from the flu, known as H1N1, and 46 states have widespread flu activity. So far only 11 million doses have gone out to health departments, doctor’s offices and other providers, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials.

Administration officials said the declaration was a pre-emptive move designed to make decisions easier when they need to be made. Officials said the move was not in response to any single development.

I remember an incredible story. One man was working with mules in a french forest called Sologne. The animals were used to tract pieces of tree from the woods to the roads, where trucks can pick’em and carry’em to the factory.
Then came a day when his boss told he bought something like a motorized engine, and mules were over. He went home alone cause his mules were sold to a butcher, for meat. The unfortunate guy spoke, like many others like him, such a secret langage with his mules, so nobody was able to make’em walk without him.
His boss asked him to come to the factory. A truck was waiting there. He had to lead his mules to the slaughter, cause he was the only man they understood.
The guy who told me this story was a friend of mine. He remembered the man had eyes and voice full of tears when he was telling this old story, and he was an old man.

Slujba de înmormântare va fi oficiată de Înalt Prea Sfinţia Sa Mitropolitul Ardealului, Laurenţiu Streza şi Preot Protopop, Reinhard Guib, Episcop Vicar al Bisericii Evanghelice alături de un sobor de preoţi. Cortegiul funerar se va deplasa pe traseul Primăria Municipiului Mediaş şi străzile Mihai Eminescu-Carpaţi-Nucului-1 Decembrie-Academician Moraru-Johannes Honterus-Piaţa Enescu-străzile I. Ghe. Duca-Cloşca-Hermann Oberth-Sibiului-Calafat-Blajului-Iacob Pisso, din nou strada Sibiului, strada Axente Sever şi strada Păcii. Convoiul funerar se va opri la Cimitirul Evanghelic unde va fi oficiată slujba de înhumare în jurul orei 16.30.

Nu stiu daca e o eroare de tipar. Daca nu e, un ierarh ortodox va “oficia”, impreuna cu un heterodox, in cadrul unui ritual de tip religios, ca nu stiu cum altfel sa numesc asta, slujba de inmormantare (urmata de cea de inhumare?).

Adriana Săftoiu testează atenţia deputaţilor. Cum poţi să declari orice în Parlamentul României

Că parlamentarii nu sunt atenţi la ce se întâmplă în jurul lor, la şedinţele de plen, e deja un truism. Deputatul PNL Adriana Săftoiu a vrut totuşi să verifice această teză şi şi-a testat colegii marţi dimineaţa, la sesiunea de declaraţii politice. În prezenţa a zece deputaţi, Săftoiu a citit, de la tribună, o falsă declaraţie politică, în fapt o alăturare de citate din oameni politici şi jurnalişti americani, fără nicio legătură între ele, cu teme mergând de la sclavie, sărăcie, terorism şi folosirea arborilor de tisa de Pacific în tratarea cancerului.

Săftoiu a citit declaraţia ca şi cum ar fi unitară, cursiv şi liniştit, fără să facă vreo pauză şi fără să spună că preia nişte citate. Deputaţii prezenţi în sală au aplaudat-o la final iar preşedinta de şedinţă, Daniela Popa (PC), i-a mulţumit la final. Nici ziariştii n-au remarcat nimic ciudat în declaraţia politică nonsens.

Iată ce a citit în plen Adriana Săftoiu:

“Domnilor parlamentari,
Cea mai mare creştere a ratei sărăciei în rândul copiilor, în anii din urmă, s-a produs în acele state în care nivelul ajutoarelor sociale este cel mai ridicat. Cele mai mici creşteri – de fapt, descreşteri – ale ratei sărăciei la copii au fost înregistrate în statele care limitează nivelul acestor fonduri. Dezbaterea nu ar trebui să se axeze pe recrudescenţa conflictului ori pe detaliile sale. Această dezbatere nu ar trebui să se refere nici măcar la războiul dus până acum în Irak, la greşelile comise ori la întrebarea dacă putem câştiga în plan militar sau nu. Adriana Săftoiu spune că urmăreşte de o jumătate de an felul în care sunt citite declaraţiile politice şi cum arată, de fapt, viaţa parlamentară în România. “Am vrut să le arăt colegilor că putem să spunem orice, lucruri alandala, ilogice sau, dimpotrivă, lucruri perfect logice şi de substanţă, că oricum nu contează. Aceste declaraţii politice nu urmăresc decât să motiveze activitatea parlamentarilor. Le găseşti pe site sau în Monitorul Oficial şi senatorii şi deputaţii pot să spună că au fost activi, fără să îi intereseze dacă ele au vreo finalitatate”, ne-a declarat Săftoiu.

Ea afirmă că a făcut acest gest ca “revoltă” faţă de felul în care aleşii îşi asumă responsabilitatea pentru ceea ce ar trebui să fie activitatea parlamentară. “Facem pur şi simplu exerciţii de oratorie”, mai spune deputatul PNL.
